If shifting problems occur in both manual and
automatic shift modes, proceed as follows:
Disconnect harness at transmission solenoid
Ensure wires for transmission solenoid
connector at transmission valve body are properly
connected. Wires should lay in parallel layers from
the solenoids to the connector with all green wires
connected to pins 1 thru 5 and all black wires
solenoid coil. The readings should be 39-42 ohms.
If a reading is 0 ohms, solenoid must be replaced
and a fuse in the fuse and relay box is probably
Position ignition switch to 1 (run) and
blown requiring replacement.
AUTOMATIC/MANUAL switch to MANUAL.
Check engine harness side of transmission
Place the transmission shift lever into each
solenoid connector for proper wire connection, refer
position and check voltage reading at every socket of
engine harness transmission solenoid connector.
If voltage readings are correct and wires
on solenoid side connector are properly
connected, transmission is faulty.
If voltage readings are correct but
symptom may be eliminated. Check
If voltage readings
proceed to step 7.
Disconnect cab harness (round connector)
With ignition switch positioned to 1 (run), place
transmission shift lever in each position and check
input voltage readings at sockets L, C, J, G, and E of
cab harness. Readings should match those in Table
If voltage readings are correct, proceed
to step 9.
