They are authorized to the categoryPDindicated by the code entered in the 3dPEposition of the SMR code.PFPG**Items coded PC are subject to deterioration.KDItems with these codes are not to be re-KFquested/requisitioned individually. They areKBpart of a kit which is authorized to themaintenance category indicated in the 3dposition of the SMR code. The complete kitmust be requisitioned and applied.MO- (Made at UM/Items with these codes are not AVUM Level)to be requested/requisitioned individually. They must beMF-(Made at IDS/made from bulk material which AVUM Level)is identified by the part numMH- (Made at IGSber in the DESCRIPTIONlevel)AND USABLE ON CODE(UOC) column and listed inML-(Made at Spe-the Bulk Material group of the cialized Repairrepair parts list in this RPSTL.Act (SRA))If the item is authorized to you by the 3d position code of theMD- (Made at Depot)SMR code, but the sourcecode indicates it is made at ahigher level, order the itemfrom the higher level ofmaintenance.AO-(Assembled byItems with these codes are notUM/A VUM Level) to be requested/requisitionedindividually. The parts thatAF-(Assembled bymake up the assembled item IDS/A VIM Level) must be requisitioned or fabri-AH-(Assembled bycated and assembled at theIGS Categorylevel of maintenance indicatedIGS Categoryby the source code. If the 3dAL-(Assembled byposition code of the SMR codeSRA)authorizes you to replace theitem, but the source code indi-AD-(Assembled bycates the item is assembled atDepot)a higher level, order the itemfrom the higher level ofmaintenance.XADo not requisition an "XA"-coded item. Order itsnext higher assembly. (Also, refer to the NOTEbelow.)XBIf an "XB" item is not available from salvage, orderit using the FSCM and part number given.XCInstallation drawing, diagram, instruction sheet,field service drawing, that is identified by themanufacturer’s part number.XDItem is not stocked. Order an "XD"-coded itemthrough normal supply channels using the FSCMand part number given, if no NSN is available.NOTE:Cannibalization or controlled exchange, whenauthorized, may be used as source of supply for itemswith the above source codes, except for those sourcecoded "XA" or those aircraft support items restricted byrequirements of AR 700-42.(2)Maintenance Code. Maintenance codes tell youthe level(s) of maintenance authorized to USE andREPAIR support items. The maintenance codes areentered in the third and fourth positions of the SMR Codeas follows:(a)The maintenance code entered in the thirdposition tells you the lowest maintenance levelauthorized to remove, replace, and use an item. Themaintenance code entered in the third position willindicate authorization to one of the following levels ofmaintenance.CodeApplication/ExplanationC -Crew or operator maintenance done within unitmaintenance or aviation unit maintenance.O -Unit maintenance or aviation unit category canremove, replace, and use the item.F -Intermediate Direct Support or aviationintermediate level can remove, replace, and usethe Hem.H -Intermediate General support level can remove,replace, and use the item.L -Specialized repair activity can remove, replace,and use the item.D -Depot level can remove, replace, and use theHem.(b)The maintenance code entered in thefourth position tells whether or not the item is to berepaired and identifies the lowest maintenance level withthe capability to do complete repair (i.e., perform allauthorized repair functions.) (NOTE: Some limited repairmay be done on the item at a lower level of maintenance,if authorized by the Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC)and SMR codes.)
