Trouble - No recovery, from turn to straight ahead.
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Low pump output
1. Check pump output and replace if necessary.
2. Piston in steering valve sticking, (prevents centering)
2. Disassemble valve and inspect for sticking.
3. Ball stud adjustment too tight
3. Adjust for proper clearance.
4. Steering linkage too tight
4. Readjust.
5. Insufficient wheel caster
5. Readjust per manufacturers specifications.
6. Steering gear too tight (out of adjustment)
6. Readjust per manufacturers specifications.
Trouble - Excessive Lost Motion at Steering Wheel.
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Loose ball socket connections or other linkage
1. Tighten and readjust.

2. Excessive back-lash in steering gear
2. Readjust per manufacturers specifications.
3. End plug on steering valve not properly positioned
3. Make adjustment as outlined in service instructions.
Trouble - Noise.
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Pump drive belt out of adjustment
1. Adjust.
2. Low oil level
2. Refill system.
3. Air in system
3. Bleed system by loosening fitting on power cylinder
to let air escape. Check all fitting connections for
tightness.
4. Worn pump
4. Repair or replace.
5. Hydraulic hose lines in direct contact with vehicle
5. Insulate lines from frame contact with rubber
frame or sheet metal
grommets.
Trouble - Steering Shimmy or Chatter.
CAUSE
REMEDY
1. Loose ball socket connections or other linkage
1. Tighten and readjust.

2. Wheels out of balance

Balance.
3. Excessive caster
3.
Correct and have alignment of front end checked.
4. Excessive back-lash in steering gear
4.
Readjust gear.
5. Loose pump belt

Adjust belt tension.
6. Area of valve reaction rings too low

Select rings with greater area.
