TM 5-3810-306-10LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF MAJORCOMPONENTSCab AssemblyThe cab is all-steel, acoustically-treated, and fully-enclosed with tinted safety glass window. It contains allengine and crane controls and indicators for completeoperation of the crane including outrigger controls. Thecab also contains an operator’s seat, heater, defroster, electric windshield wiper, dome light and fireextinguisher.EngineA diesel engine is housed in a compartment at the rearof the frame. The engine provides crane mobility, drivesthe hydraulic pumps, charges the air system via thecompressor, and drives the alternator.Fuel TankA 100-gallon (378-liter) capacity fuel tank is mounted onthe left side of the frame between the axles. The fillercap, located on the side of the tank, is accessible fromground level.Torque ConverterThe torque converter is mounted on and driven by theengine. It drives the three-section hydraulic pump, thetwo-section hydraulic pump, and theconverter/transmission charging pump.TransmissionThe transmission is a powershift six-speed (forward andreverse) type. The transmission is mounted on thecarrier frame near the center of the crane.AxlesThe front and rear axles are drive and steer (axles) withbrakes at all four wheels.Hydraulic ReservoirThe hydraulic reservoir is located on the right side of thecarrier. The reservoir contains hydraulic system oil andincludes a filter and by-pass valve.Turntable Assembly and Swing MechanismAn anti-friction roller bearing supports the superstructureon the carrier frame allowing 360 degrees continuousrotation (swing) in either direction. The bearing is drivenby a hydraulic motor and gear reducer/brakearrangement mounted above the bearing in the turntable.Boom AssemblyThe two-section boom extends from 34.4 to 60.4 feet(10.52 to 18.46 meters). The boom is mounted on aturntable and is raised/lowered and extended/retractedby hydraulic cylinders.Auxiliary Boom NoseThe auxiliary boom nose consists of a welded extensionwith a sheave assembly. The auxiliary boom nose ismounted on the boom nose. Main HoistThe main hoist provides power for all load raising andlowering operations. The main hoist is mounted at therear of the boom on the turntable.Auxiliary HoistThe auxiliary hoist provides power for all load raising andlowering operations when the auxiliary boom nose isinstalled and the overall ball is being used. The auxiliaryhoist is mounted on the counterweight.1-4
