Stitching and restitching on airdrop equipment constructed from cloth, canvas, andwebbing should be accomplished with thread which matches the color of the original stitching, when possible. Allstraight stitching should be locked by back stitching each end of the stitch formation by ½-inch (1 270 cm.).Restitching should be locked by overstitching each end of the stitch formation by ½-inch (1.270 cm). Zigzagstitching does not require locking; however, zigzag restitching should extend at least ¼-inch (0.635 cm) intoundamaged stitching at each end, when possible.
