D. Remove the shift chamber attaching nuts and lock
washers. By use of snap ring pliers, expand lock
ring to clear shaft groove and slide out shaft and
chamber assembly.
E. Remove from the housing the spring retainer and
spring.
3. Remove Inter-Axle (3rd) Differential and Cage Assembly. Before disassembly is started, record gear backlash.
Gear must be reset to this figure at reassembly.
A. Remove the pinion bearing cover cap screws
and lock washers. Remove cover and gasket.
