Eachpropeller shaft is equipped with two universal joints andone slip joint. Each has two flanged yokes forconnecting to driving and driven components. Thepropeller shafts are of tubular-type construction.307. Transmission-to-Transfer Case Propeller Shafta.Removal.(1) Remove the transmission-to-transfercase propeller shaft in the numericalsequence as instructed on figure 189.(2) Remove the rear axle, the tandem, andthe front axle propeller shafts in asimilar manner.b.Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair.(1) Clean all parts with an approvedcleaning solvent.(2) Inspect the spider bearingsforexcessive wear and other damage.Replace spider bearings as necessary.(3) Inspect all other parts for breaks,cracks, and other damage. Replacedefective parts as necessary.c.Installation.(1) Install the transmission-to-transfer casepropeller shaft in the reverse of thenumerical sequence as illustrated onfigure 189.(2) Install the front axle, the tandem, andthe rear axle propeller shaft in a similarmanner.(3) Service propeller shafts (LO 5-3810-207-20).242
