GeneralThe six intake and six exhaust valves are located inthe cylinder block on the right side of the engine and areraised and lowered by tappets in contact with thecamshaft. Adjusting screws in the tappets provide themeans of adjusting the valve clearance. The stem ofeach valve rides within a valve guide pressed in theblock. Intake valves control the admission of the fuel-airmixture to the cylinders, while the exhaust valves permitthe expulsion of exhaust gages from the cylinder. Theengine governor is a centrifugal unit gear-driven fromthe camshaft and connected to the carburetor throughadjustable linkage which controls the speed of theengine.91.
