Section VI. CRANE ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM
90. General
The fuel system consists of a 50-gallon fuel tank, fuel
pump, carburetor, air cleaner, lines and fittings. A fuel
line with shutoff cock connects the tank to a diaphragm-
type fuel pump, mounted on the right-rear side of the
engine block. A fuel line connects to an updraft-type
carburetor, mounted on the right side of the engine. The
oil-bath type air cleaner is connected to the bottom of
the carburetor with a hose. During operation, clean air
passes from the air cleaner to the carburetor. At the
carburetor the air picks up a spray of gasoline and the
gasoline-air mixture is drawn into the cylinders where it
is ignited by the spark plugs.
