Remove the plug and lift the gasket, valve and spring

Clean the by-pass valve components with fuel oil and dry
them with compressed air.
Inspect the valve and spring for wear or damage and
replace them if necessary.
Install By-Pass Valve
1. Apply clean engine oil to the outside surface of
the by-pass valve and place the valve in the
adapter, closed end first.
2. Slide the valve spring into the valve and screw
the plug with gasket, into the adapter.
