REMOVAL OF STEERING SYSTEM FROM VEHICLE
a.
Thoroughly clean the steering gear and the immediate vicinity, paying particular attention to
the connections.
b.
Drain oil by opening closing plug (7).
c.
Loosen respective pressure, return flow and the two power cylinder lines on steering circuits I
and II.
d.
CAUTION
Never attempt to remove the pitman arm by forcing a wedge between
housing neck and pitman arm or by means of hammer blows, since
this will lead to serious damage inside steering gear.
e.
Pull off pitman arm with suitable puller (refer to tool 10.).
f.
Loosen universal joint or flexible coupling between steering gear and steering column or
separately installed angular gears. When disassembling steering wheel, do not direct any
axial blows against steering spindle.
g.
Remove fastening screws on housing and remove steering.
