Remove the generator regulator asinstructed on figure 9.b.Cleaning and Inspection.(1)Clean the generator regulator with a lint-free cloth dampened with an approvedcleaning solvent and dry thoroughly.(2)Inspect the generator regulator for breaksand other damage. Replace defectivegenerator regulator.c.Installation. Install the generator regulator asillustrated on figure 9.Note.The engine generator must bepolarized whenever the leads to thegenerator or regulator have beenremoved or any adjustments havebeen made to the generatorregulator. Failure to polarize thegenerator may cause the regulatorcontacts to be damaged by vibration,heavy arcing, and burning.Note.Polarize the generator by disconnec-ting the field lead at the regulatorand momentarily connecting ajumper lead between the generatorfield terminal and the regulatorbattery terminal. Remove the jumperlead and connect field lead to theregulator (C, fig. 9).30
