Inspect fan guard for damage or unsafe conditions. Inspect mounting hardware for damage. Replace hoses
if there is evidence of deterioration.
3-17. Reassembly
Reassemble the radiator assembly as shown in figure 3-3.
3-18. Installation
Install radiator assembly in accordance with TM 5-3810-295-12.
Section IV. REPAIR OF WATER PUMP
3-19. Description
The water pump is of the centrifugal type, and is mounted on top of the engine oil cooler housing. The water pump
circulates coolant through the oil cooler, cylinder block, cylinder head and radiator.

Removal
a.
Remove radiator cap, and drain the cooling system.
b.
Loosen and remove the water pump belts.
c.
Loosen e hose clamps and slide the hose up on the water by-pass tube.
d.
Refer to figure 3-4 and remove the five screws (1) and lock washers (2) securing the water pump to the oil cooler
housing and take off the pump.
