TM 5-3810-306-10ELECTRICAL SYSTEMSending Units and Warning SwitchesThe LED alert display performs a five-second self-test ofthe alarm indicators and audible alarm when the engineIGNITION switch is on. When these indicators turn offdue to normal operation the warning switches areworking successfully.1.With IGNITION SWITCH-ON and engine runningensure that panel gauges operate properly. Thisconfirms the sending units are functional.HORNS AND ALARMS1.With IGNITION switch ON and blackout light switchin either SERV DRIVE or STOP LIGHT positions,press horn button. Horn should sound.2.With transmission direction lever in R (reverse),engine running and blackout light switch in eitherSERV DRIVE or STOP LIGHT position, backupalarm should sound.BATTERIES1.Ensure cable and clamps are tight and not corroded,and batteries are secure.TRANSMISSION SERVICE1.Check oil level in transmission. This should be donewith the oil temperature gauge reading between 180-200 degrees F. Add oil if level is below FULL markon dipstick.HYDRAULIC FLUID COOLER1.Inspect for leaks and dirt fouling the air path throughthe oil cooler.AIR RESERVOIR SERVICE1.Check for moisture in air system by opening thereservoir’s drain cock or automatic drain valve. Use atool to drain the automatic drain valve. Move the wirein the exhaust port up, holding it until draining iscomplete. In areas where more than a 30 degreetemperature range is common, small amounts ofwater can condense in air system. Small amounts ofwater are normal and are not an indication that thedryer is not working.Automatic Drain Valve2.Have Organizational Maintenance replace thedesiccant cartridge in the air dryer when it has beendetermined that the desiccant is contaminated andcannot absorb water.TIRES1.Check air pressure in each tire. Pressure should be75 psi.WARNINGThe rim is made up of three pieces witha locking ring. If not properly seated, thelocking ring and rim parts can fly apartwith lethal force. Always use a tireinflation cage and clip on inflator. Failureto follow this procedure could result inpersonnel injury.3-27
