The tireand wheel assembly shall be placedin a tire cage. The high pressuresinvolved can cause tire and rim partsand tools to fly with explosive forcecausing severe injury or death topersonnel and damage to the craneand surrounding area.a.Lay tire and wheel assembly on blocks with lockring side up.b.Remove valve stem core (1) and completelydeflate tire.c.Standing inside rim area, work carefully toremove lock ring (2). Start at lock ring split andwork tools around lock ring.d.Remove and discard preformed packing (3) byinserting screwdriver under packing and pryingup. Do not use fingers. Discard preformedpacking.WARNINGWhen separating tire bead andflange, stand to side of tire beadseparator to ensure that if tool slipsoff, the operator will not be injured.CAUTIONAvoid using tire bead separatorwithin one foot (0.3 m) of butt weldon flange.e.Starting at flange butt weld, use tire beadseparate tire and flange.
