TM 5-3810-207-20/TO 36C23-3-37-12CHAPTER 7CARRIER ENGINE MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONSSection I. CARRIER ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM199. GeneralThe electrical system is a 24-volt system and consistsof two 12-volt batteries, a generator, generatorregulator, starter and starter solenoid, distributor, sixspark plugs, lighting system, heater control system, panel switches and gages, and wires and wire cables.Electrical energy to crank the engine flows from thebatteries to the starter solenoid and starter. Thegenerator and generator regulator supply the current tokeep the battery at the proper charge. The distributorand coil supply the electrical power to the engine sparkplugs. Current flows from the batteries to the panelswitches which control the lights and electricalaccessory items. For proper removal and installation ofall electrical wiring on the carrier refer to the wiringdiagram, figure 1.200.
