Wedge a dean rag between the gears on the opposite end of the shafts. Install nuts (1) and tighten the nuts to
300325 ft-lb (407441 N -m).

Refer to chapter 4, section III, and install the flywheel housing.

Section V. REPAIR OF FRONT COVER AND OIL PUMP
4-20. Description
The lower engine cover is mounted on the lower front portion of the crankcase. The cover contains the engine oil pump,
which distributes lubricating oil throughout the engine under pressure.
4-21. Removal

Refer to chapter 4, section VII and remove the engine oil pan.

Refer to figure 4-13 and remove crankshaft bolt (1), pulley spacer (2). Using a suitable puller, remove
crankshaft pulley (3).

Remove bolts (4) and lock washers (5). Separate and remove front cover (6) and gasket (7).
