C. Thread a 5/16"-24 x 3" bolt into the
tapped end of the weight shaft. Sup-
port the weight housing on the bed of

D. Slide the riser thrust bearing and
governor riser from the shaft.
This bearing is specially designed to
absorb thrust load; therefore, loose-
ness between the mating parts does
not indicate excessive wear.
E. Remove the bearing from the weight
housing.
F. Use tool J4880 and remove one lock
ring from each weight pin. Withdraw
the pins, flat washers and governor
weights.
G. If required, the weight carrier
be pressed from the governor weight
shaft and a new carrier installed.
4. Disassemble the governor variable
speed spring housing.
