RELIEVING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM PRESSURE
WARNING
DO NOT disconnect or remove any hydraulic system lines or fitting unless engine is shut
down and hydraulic system pressure has been relieved. Tighten all connections before
applying pressure. Escaping hydraulic fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin.
At operating temperature, hydraulic oil is hot. Allow hydraulic oil to cool before removing
any hydraulic fitting.
Wear protective eye covering.
Avoid sudden movement of vehicle.
Use a container to catch any fluid that may drain from hoses or system. Dispose of fluid
IAW local policy and ordinances. Ensure all spills are cleaned up.
Failure to follow these warnings may result in injury or death to personnel.
1.
Relieving Hydraulic System Pressure.
a.
Park the crane on a smooth, level surface.
b.
Engage parking brake.
c.
Shut down engine.
d.
In superstructure cab, turn engine start switch to ON position without starting engine.
e.
Move joystick control lever through all positions. This will relieve any pressure that is present in hydraulic
system.
f.
Slowly loosen hydraulic tank filler cap and allow any pressure to escape.
2.
Relieving Brake Hydraulic System Pressure.
a.
Park the crane on a smooth, level surface.
b.
Shut down engine.
c.
Engage parking brake.
d.
In chassis cab, turn engine start switch to ON position.
e.
Depress brake pedal 30 times, pausing two seconds between each application.
f.
Turn engine start switch to OFF position.
