Always keep in mind theCAUTIONS and WARNINGS. Perform your during(D) PMCS.3.After you operate. Be sure to perform your after (A)PMCS.4.If your equipment fails to operate. Troubleshoot withproper equipment. Report any deficiencies using theproper forms. See TM 38-750.ProcedurePMCS procedures in the table are intended to insure thatthe crane is ready to be operated safely and withminimum crane wear and tear.The PMCS table lists the checks and services that needto be performed at various intervals. The intervals weredetermined by crane design and expecteduse.1."Before" or (B) PMCS shall be performed by theoperator prior to starting the engine and attemptingto operate the crane.2."During" or (D) PMCS shall be performed whileoperating the crane both while sitting in the cabmanipulating the controls and when outside the cabdoing other tasks associated with operations.3."After" or (A) PMCS shall be performed after craneoperation and when it is being shut down for a periodof time.4."Weekly’" or (W) PMCS need not be done every dayor every time the crane is operated, but must bedone relatively frequently, and not delayed orforgotten. A weekly routine must be established tocheck and service these items.5."Monthly" or (M) PMCS provides checks andservices that need not be done weekly but cannot beignored more than a month. A monthly serviceroutine must be established.6.There are checks and services that must be done onthe basis of the number of hours of engine operation,or based on special environmental conditions. Thesemore frequent checks are marked with an asterisk.An appropriate footnote explains the special serviceinterval.Additional Special Checks and ServicesPerform weekly (W) as well as before (B) operationsPMCS if:1.You are the assigned operator and have notoperated the crane since the last weekly.2.You are operating the crane for the first time.Leakage definitions for operator/crew PMCS shall beclassified as follows:Class I Seepage of fluid (as indicated by wetness ordiscoloration) not great enough to form drops.Class IILeakage of fluid great enough to form dropsbut not enough to cause drops to drip fromitem being checked/inspected.Class IIILeakage of fluid great enough to form dropsthat fall from the item beingchecked/inspected.2-15
