TM 5-3810-306-20 EMERGENCY STEER PUMP CABLE(S) REPLACEMENT TOOLS: General mechanic’s tool kit: automotive (5180-00-177-7033) SUPPLIES: Lockwashers (Item 2, Appendix C) (2 Required) Lockwasher (Item 57, Appendix C) EQUIPMENT CONDITIONS: Disconnect ground cable at shunt. (Refer to page 8-109.) Battery cover removed. (Refer to page 8-98.) REMOVAL: WARNING Batteries generate explosive gases. Keep sparks, flames or other ignition sources away at all times. Always shield eyes when working near batteries. WARNING Electrolyte splashed into eyes is extremely dangerous. If this should happen, force eye open and flood with cool, clean water for approximately five minutes. Call for immediate medical attention. 1. REMOVE RELAY COVER (1) IF REQUIRED. a. Remove nuts (4), lockwashers (5) and washers (6). Discard lockwashers (5). b. Remove relay cover (1). 2. REMOVE EMERGENCY STEER PUMP CABLE(S). a. As required, remove hex nuts (2) (hex nut (7), lockwasher (8) and flat washer (9) for ground cable) on cable terminals (3) for each cable. Discard lockwasher (8) if removed. b. Remove and inspect cable(s). Replace parts as required. 8-105
