Install new ball valve (13) in desiccant plate (8)and replace retaining clip (12) and screw.i.Thoroughly lubricate two new preformedpackings (10 and 11) and install them in theirrespective grooves in desiccant plate (8).j.Install desiccant plate assembly (6) on cartridgebolt so ball valve (13) retaining clip is in view.k. Using locknut (7), draw assembly together toapproximately half of spring’s free height. Whileslowly turning cartridge, tap side of shell with aplastic mallet. This allows desiccant material tosettle properly into place.l.Using an 11/16-inch socket and box wrench,continue to tighten locknut (7) ensuring all itemsare properly aligned.m. Tighten locknut (7) and draw desiccant plateassembly (6) down into desiccant cartridge untilshoulder of desiccant plate is against cartridgeshell (17).2.INSTALL DESICCANT CARTRIDGE ASSEMBLY(9) AND DESICCANT PLATE ASSEMBLY (6).a. Wipe inside of air dryer clean.If solvent is used, be certain that no residue is left in shell(4).NOTEBarium base lubricant (Bendix 246671)is supplied with repair kit.b. Check to be certain a film of barium base greaseis present on preformed packings, then installcartridge and desiccant plate assembly intobody. Engage bolt (16) and tighten to 32 poundsfoot (4.42 kgm) torque.c. Check end cover (2) preformed packing to becertain it is clean and lubricated with a bariumbase lubricant. Install preformed packing (21)on end cover and install end cover in dryer body.d. Position end cover (2) as marked during removaland install retainer ring (5) so that gap in ring iswithin an inch of notch in body.e. Grease threads on three capscrews (1) andreinstall them with their retaining clamps (3) inend cover.f.Connect air control line to purge valve port inend cover.g. Connect heater lead.3.CONNECT GROUND CABLE AT SHUNT. (REFERTO PAGE 8-109.)4.START-UP ENGINE AND ALLOW AIR PRESSURETO BUILD UP.
