GeneralThe operating clutches are of the internalexpanding type and controlled hydraulically. The bandassemblies are composed mainly of a clutch shoe withlining, a clutch actuating arm and actuating armretracting spring, and a band retracting spring. Thebrakes are of the external-contracting type mounted onthe outside of the clutch drums. They consist chiefly ofa two-part hinged-attached brake assembly with lining.One end of the band assembly is anchored and theother is actuated. The boom hoist brake is held in theengaged position by a spring and released hydraulicallywhen the boom hoist clutch is actuated. The main hoistand haul-back brakes are controlled mechanically andare engaged by pressure on the brake pedals.138. Boom Hoist Clutch Banda.
