a Clean all parts with an approved cleaning solvent
and dry thoroughly.
b Inspect plunger and housing bore for wear and
sign of seizure. Replace defective parts as necessary.

3-70. Removal and Disassembly
a. Remove cylinder head assemblies (para 3-47).
b. Remove oil pan (para 3-58).
c. Scrape all carbon from top of cylinder liners.
d. Refer to figure 3-40 and remove connecting rod bolt
nuts and knock bolts from cap and rod. Remove caps
and mark to assure replacement on rod from which
removed.
